Application Virtualization
AppZero, charter partner in the AWS Solution Provider Program, facilitates movement of Windows server-side applications to Amazon’s EC2 PDF

Andover, Mass, October 12, 2009 - AppZero, pioneer in server-side application virtualization was recognized as a charter partner in Amazon's (AMZN) newly launched AWS Solution Provider Program. AppZero and some select providers of innovative technology and services were joined on this inaugural list by established industry leaders such as CA, Citrix, IBM and Oracle.

AppZero contributes to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem through fast and frictionless provisioning of complex Windows server applications to Amazon's EC2. First to market with technology that packages server applications as Virtual Application Appliances (VAAs) -- pre-installed, preconfigured applications that contain zero operating system components -- AppZero is the only tool available for decoupling server-side applications from operating systems. This VAA approach permits applications to be easily moved between datacenter and cloud infrastructures and back, without cloud lock-in.

The blend of AppZero's risk-free application mobility with Amazon's industry-defining economics encourages enterprise-scale customers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to accelerate movement to the cloud. Because AppZero makes no change to the application, server applications can freely move from the datacenter to EC2 and back in any combinations of usage that make operational and economic sense.

Many enterprises turn to EC2 for highly elastic development and test environments, business continuity and fail-over, as well as for low utilization or bursty, seasonal applications - most commonly in a hybrid model that strategically blends cloud and datacenter. ISVs increasingly provision their proof-of-concept (POC) work to the cloud for instantaneous deployment to customer sites. AppZero facilitates multi-directional application movement, removing labor, cost, and concerns about lock-in.

Greg O'Connor, CEO of AppZero notes, "Amazon clearly recognizes the importance of building an ecosystem of first-rate partners who offer solutions and services to maximize use of AWS products. AppZero's ground-breaking technology speeds and eases movement of server applications to the cloud - Amazon included. I see being selected as a charter AWS solution provider as validation by a business visionary and technology master. And it's a very public opportunity to be known by the company we keep."

AppZero software creates, runs, and maintains VAAs in Linux, Solaris, and Windows environments. Customers can drag and drop AppZero VAAs from one cloud server to another, as well as from cloud to datacenter and back.

About AppZero

AppZero develops software for creating, controlling and maintaining Virtual Application Appliances (VAAs), server-side application appliances that make provisioning of applications as services almost instantaneous: across a network on any server (physical or virtual), in the datacenter, hosted or in the cloud. Xenocode eliminates need for Silverlight installs and administrative privileges; launches online Silverlight Sandbox

SEATTLE, WA – April 9, 2009 – Xenocode, a leader in application virtualization and delivery technology, today announced support for Microsoft’s Silverlight platform and availability of the online Xenocode Silverlight Sandbox.  Xenocode allows developers to distribute Silverlight-based applications without the need for installation of the Silverlight runtime or administrative privileges.  The Xenocode Silverlight Sandbox lets users run popular Silverlight applications, including the Microsoft Silverlight Gallery and WorldWide Telescope, directly from the web without installation.

The Xenocode Silverlight Sandbox is available at http://www.xenocode.com/silverlight.

According to news reports, Major League Baseball recently abandoned Silverlight in part due to the need for users to have administrative rights to install the Silverlight player.  Work computing environments are typically “locked down”, preventing installation of Silverlight and causing widespread frustration among MLB.com subscribers.  Xenocode’s unique virtualization technology eliminates the need for administrative rights and software installations.

“We are excited to bring comprehensive support for Silverlight technologies to our developer and application delivery products”, said Kenji Obata, Code Systems founder and chief executive officer. “Xenocode gives Silverlight developers the ability to deliver applications powered by this next-generation technology to the widest possible audience.”

Xenocode supports both Silverlight 2 and the current beta version of Silverlight 3.

Availability

The online Xenocode Silverlight Sandbox is available immediately, free of charge at http://www.xenocode.com/silverlight.

Applications featured in the Silverlight Sandbox were built using Xenocode Virtual Application Studio and deployed using Xenocode Web Delivery.  Xenocode products are available via the web and through authorized Xenocode partners.

Xenocode Brings the World’s Software to the Web

Xenocode is a powerful application virtualization and streaming technology that allows software to run instantly from the web, without installation or hassles.  Xenocode takes only minutes to deploy and works with existing applications, web sites, server infrastructure, and CDN providers.

Unlike traditional hardware virtualization and remote presentation technologies, applications deployed with Xenocode have virtually the same performance as native applications.  Virtualized applications reside in isolated “sandboxes”, allowing software to run side-by-side without conflicts or modifications to the host device.   Xenocode requires no setup, configuration, clients, or device drivers and runs legacy software seamlessly on Windows Vista and locked-down desktops.

Xenocode also supports delivery of applications to enterprise desktops via Active Directory, LANDesk Management Suite, and BMC Configuration Management.  Xenocode technology has been licensed by Novell and is available as part of Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization.

About Microsoft Silverlight
